Funding coverage and differences

The undergraduate full scholarship includes tuition, medical insurance, a monthly stipend and on-campus residence or a housing subsidy; the partial undergraduate award covers tuition. Graduate Type A is the CAS-ANSO pathway, Type B uses the Chinese Government Scholarship and Type C is funded by USTC. Coverage and age criteria vary by degree and category.

How and where to apply: seven steps

  1. Choose degree and read the exact 2027 intake notice. The official International College distinguishes undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and non-degree pathways.
  2. Check scholarship type and the rules on combining awards; a single applicant cannot normally receive more than one scholarship category.
  3. Create an account in the USTC international admissions portal, choose a suitable program, and select the funding category.
  4. Prepare passport, educational certificates and transcripts, personal statement or research plan, language evidence, recommendation letters, and additional documents required by the specific notice.
  5. For CSC Type B, complete the China Scholarship Council application separately, download the resulting form, and upload it to the USTC application portal.
  6. Submit before the specified deadline, monitor the email used for registration, and respond to any requests for an interview or supplementary documents.
  7. Only the official university admission letter and scholarship award notice establish an offer; do not treat a static website enquiry as admission.

Frequently asked questions: ANSO, CSC and USTC funding

How does the CAS–ANSO doctoral or master’s award differ from CSC?

In the 2027 published structure, Type A refers to CAS–ANSO, Type B to the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), and Type C to USTC funding. Type A applications go through USTC’s system; a Type B CSC applicant additionally completes the CSC scholarship submission. Funding benefits are detailed separately for each degree and scheme, and final awards are competitive.

What is the 2027 ANSO application deadline?

The official USTC master’s and doctoral Type A notices available on 27 October 2026 state that the 2027 CAS–ANSO application period is to be announced. Therefore, no specific closing date is asserted here. Applicants should revisit the official fellowship page for the current call.

What is the closing date for CSC Type B master’s and doctoral funding?

Both the 2027 master’s and doctoral Type B notices specify an application window from 25 October 2026 through 20 January 2027. The CSC submission and USTC submission are separate required steps; verify each portal’s technical cutoff and documents well before the last day.

Who is eligible by age?

For 2027, undergraduate scholarship applicants must be under 25 on 1 September 2027. Type A master’s applicants must be under 30, Type B master’s applicants under 35, Type A doctoral applicants under 35, and Type B doctoral applicants under 40 on that date. Other eligibility conditions depend on the precise intake announcement.

What documents should be assembled before applying?

Check the program-specific checklist. International applicants commonly need passport details, qualification and transcript records, a study or research plan, language certificates when requested, a CV, recommendation letters, and notarized translations of documents not issued in Chinese or English. Do not assume every program has identical requirements.

Must I find a host supervisor before submission?

The posted 2027 USTC Type A and Type B graduate scholarship guidance says that applicants do not need to secure a host supervisor while applying online. Academic departments subsequently review materials and may organize interviews. Applicants should still check whether their chosen program has additional arrangements.

Can I hold two USTC scholarships at once?

An applicant may select more than one funding category where the admissions system permits, but the university states that any one person can receive at most one scholarship category. Being eligible to apply does not guarantee selection, nor does submitting a form establish a scholarship entitlement.

How are scholarships connected to fees and accommodation?

Award coverage must be checked per scholarship category and admission year. Some awards include tuition and medical insurance, stipend and university residence or housing subsidy; partial awards may cover tuition only. Accommodation supply and the process for accepting an allocation can differ from the scholarship selection.

Which websites process the applications?

Submit the USTC degree and fellowship application through isa.ustc.edu.cn. Type B CSC applicants additionally use campuschina.org and upload the CSC-generated application form to the university system. Applicants must complete submission through the designated university application systems.

Admission routes and program requirements

Scholarships and fellowships | Admission routes and program requirements

USTC funding options for international degree applicants include CAS–ANSO, Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) and USTC Fellowship routes. These categories have different eligibility rules, procedures and benefit structures. A funded place is competitive and not an automatic consequence of admission eligibility. The current application announcements should be read by degree level and funding category because dates and procedures are not identical across schemes. The official International College application system is the entry point for USTC applications.

ANSO, CSC and USTC funding pathways

The published 2027 international funding routes distinguish CAS–ANSO (Type A), Chinese Government Scholarship/CSC (Type B) and USTC funding (Type C). Award conditions, application systems and timetables are not identical.

For 2027, the published undergraduate application period ends 31 March 2027; the CSC Type B master’s/doctoral period ends 20 January 2027. An unannounced Type A deadline is not equivalent to either of those dates.
