Technology entrepreneurship combines technical opportunity recognition with venture design. Students need to distinguish technological feasibility from the existence of paying customers, and early prototypes from scalable operations. A useful business plan integrates market evidence, costs, intellectual property considerations, team capabilities and a financing pathway. Innovation is therefore both a technical and a managerial problem, particularly when uncertainty is high.

From technological invention to a viable venture

Technology Entrepreneurship focuses on the transition from technical insight to a viable enterprise. Product–market fit, intellectual property, team formation, capital needs and commercialization timing are interconnected challenges.

Management education in this direction therefore benefits from financial models alongside experimentation with customer needs and proposed business models; technical novelty alone does not establish a sustainable commercial opportunity.

A closer look at Technology Entrepreneurship track

Technology Entrepreneurship is one of the four directions in the 2025 MBA framework. It provides a setting for exploring how technical opportunities become viable ventures: identifying users, testing a value proposition, estimating resources and assessing operational risks. Entrepreneurship decisions draw on marketing, finance and organizational behavior as well as technical understanding.

Technology-oriented ventures also face the challenge of timing. A product may be technically feasible but lack sufficient customers, financing or operational capacity. Venture planning therefore connects research potential with evidence about market demand and organizational readiness.
