Undergraduate admissions | Admission routes and program requirements

Undergraduate admissions focus on entry to degree study and the preparation needed for a demanding academic curriculum. USTC places emphasis on mathematics and scientific foundations across its technology-oriented disciplines. Applicants should distinguish the university's general undergraduate offerings from the physical location of individual courses on West Campus. The university admissions office publishes the applicable route and subject requirements for each applicant group.

The 2027 undergraduate application window

Undergraduate preparation combines eligibility, academic records and the admissions rules for the applicant’s category. International undergraduate candidates should consult the published International College notices for 2027 intake dates and language/document requirements.

The announced 2027 undergraduate fellowship window opens 25 October 2026 and closes 31 March 2027; this window is specific to the listed funding/admissions category.

A closer look at Undergraduate admissions

Admissions to undergraduate education should be considered separately from graduate entry and international fellowship routes. Academic qualifications, language requirements, required documentation and any scholarship eligibility depend on the applicant category. Applicants can use the university’s admissions and International College systems to identify which route applies to their circumstances.

Undergraduate admissions: scope and context

Undergraduate entry is a different pathway from applying to a professional master’s or research doctorate. Academic records, proof of eligibility, language competence where relevant and the correct application portal all matter. Scholarship consideration may form a connected but separately governed process. USTC’s International College publishes annual applicant-category notices with submission stages and eligibility requirements.
